my little sister in rookie mag

i'm gonna save another apology for my lack of posting. basically i have a new job and i love it but it does mean getting up at 5.30am and getting in just after 7pm because of my horrible commute. until i move back to london (scheduled for end of may) regular posting won't return because i just don't have the time/energy. i'll try when i can to post something, like now;

my fit piece of a younger sister as seen in rookie mag

i know i'm biased but BABE.

peachy keen

I love lipstick and recently went on the hunt for a peach/apricot colour as an alternative to 'nude' to add to my growing collection. As I'm on a tight budget but didn't want to compromise on the perfect shade, this is what I came up with;

1. models own in 'coral' [£5.00] : the cheapest one I liked, it looks a bit more orange in real life than what I was looking for but still a lovely colour. Also there wasn't a tester for me to try..
2. GOSH cosmetics lipstick in 'mandarina' [£6.49] : this is the one I ultimately ended up buying and I would thoroughly recommend. Value for money in my opinion.
3. revlon matte lipstick in 'smoked peach' [£7.49] : I so almost bought this before I spotted the GOSH one, a lovely colour which is ever so slightly pinkier than mandarina and also has a bit of a sheen to it. Revlon lipstick's I find have really good staying power too.
4. topshop's 'charmed' from their Sisters of the New Moon Collection [£9.00] : This was the one I initially really wanted but at £9.00 I just couldn't let myself do it and so the hunt began. It looks less orange and less sheeny in real life; if I could afford it, I probably would.

OH HIYA

setting fire to our insides for fun to distract our hearts

I cannot stop listening to this song at the moment.

want / need

I can't find this shirt online anymore or in any of my local h&m stores but this is proof that it does exist out there, maybe only in h&m on Oxford Street. It looks quite rubbish online but in real life it's a stone wash denim with a suede pocket, £19.99 and I NEED it.

centre pompidou, paris

I know I went to Paris weeks ago but I still have photos I want to put up and rather than bombard you with them all at once I thought it best to trickle them amongst other posts so it didn't get boring.

be stevie nicks

I love TED talks, they're genuinely one of my favourite things on the entire internet. Although I don't regularly read Tavi's blog, I think that she is such an inspiring role model for teen girls and since she's set up Rookie Mag I've been really impressed with the content. After coming across her TEDxTeen talk yesterday I think I'm a Tavi convert; I wish I could have been so informed and brave at fifteen!

that is one awesome cover photo.

another apology

sorry AGAIN for being a shit blogger, it's all paid off though I have a new job starting at the end of the month which I'm super stoked for. I've been going back & forth from London a lot recently but hopefully I'll be moving back very soon!

Anyway, last night I had the pleasure of attending an intimate Lana Del Rey set at the Jazz Cafe in Camden. To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of hers but I was offered the ticket for free (cheers Kels) and after hearing mixed reviews wanted to check out what she like IRL. I was very surprised (I think a long with everyone else in the room) but she was actually really good live! Maybe her SNL performance was just a blip? Also, she looks a lot less freaky & plastic up close. Her set was only 35 minutes long and if I'd paid to see her I would have felt a bit ripped off and she could have interacted with the audience a lot more but ultimately, I was very impressed.

hiatus explained

SORRY ABOUT THAT. i got carried away with work/ looking for a new job/ going away and neglected to post anything, oops. SO a few things:

1) if you follow me on twitter (which you should, i tweet a lot) i hopped over the channel to spend a long weekend with my lovely french friend pauline. i had an amazing time & the weather was glorious, photos to follow when i get my film developed.

2) whilst sunbathing in parc des buttes chaumont (#smug) on sunday i finished reading patti smith's 'just kids' and i would highly recommend. such a beautifully told love story with all the real bits left in as well as an insight into patti smith's fascinating life.

3) a little off topic but next have a too-good-not-to-share collection of boots in their sale right now. all pairs shown below are between £20 and £35, you're welcome.
